Overview
WhatsApp Bots connects AI Bucket to your WhatsApp Cloud API number. Inbound messages are delivered via webhooks and appear in Omni-Chats; your bot can then reply based on your system prompt and attached AI Knowledge Base.
What you can do
- Connect a WhatsApp Cloud API phone number and handle inbound conversations in Omni-Chats.
- Use a system prompt + AI Knowledge Base entries to make responses consistent and accurate.
- Operate with server-friendly authentication via a System User access token.
How it works (high level)
- Create a Meta app and enable WhatsApp Cloud API for your business.
- Verify the business (recommended) and verify the phone number used by the API.
- Configure webhooks so WhatsApp can deliver message events to AI Bucket.
- Create a WhatsApp bot in AI Bucket using business_id (WABA ID), phone_id (Phone Number ID), and a System User access token.

Sends a message to your WhatsApp number.

Delivers webhook events to your configured callback URL.

Receives events, stores the conversation in Omni-Chats, and replies when enabled.
WhatsApp Cloud API limitations you should know
Important: WhatsApp API is not the WhatsApp app
You cannot connect a normal WhatsApp app account/number directly. You must use a phone number registered for WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API).
- The phone number must be provisioned for the WhatsApp Business Platform. A number currently active on the consumer WhatsApp app usually cannot be used as-is.
- Messaging rules apply (for example, time-bounded customer service windows; business-initiated messaging may require approved templates).
- Quality rating and messaging limits can affect throughput; warm up the number and follow policy guidelines.
- Business verification and display name review can affect what customers see and what features are available.
How it relates to other apps

AI Knowledge Base
Attach AI Knowledge Base entries (knowledge_ids) to provide the bot with your FAQs, policies, SOPs, and product info.

Contacts
As conversations happen, Contacts can be created/updated for cross-channel follow-up and identification.

Omni-Chats
All WhatsApp conversations appear in Omni-Chats, where your team can review and take over when needed.
